Kiambu – Nyandarua Senator John Methu has asked Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to remove his traps in the government palace.
Following the victory of President William Ruto in the August 2022 vote, DP demanded to set traps in and around the seat of power, the palace, to prevent ODM leader Raila Odinga from reaching Ruto.

The leader confirmed 'he will protect him' Ruto against the progress from the veteran leader of the opposition.
However, the DP's attempts seem to have failed as Ruto has called for the formation of a broad government, which will include ODM officials in his new Cabinet.
What is Methu's request to Gachagua
The young senator recognized the broad government managed by President William Ruto.
He explained that it was time for the DP to remove its traps to avoid bringing their new friends into the government.
Methu urged the DP to seek an alliance with other leaders, excluding Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya.
“We have all decided to support and help build the government, even President William Ruto has said that it should be broad, even the one we were competing with, Raila Odinga, has joined the group. Now I want to ask you to remove the traps we set earlier because it can trap our friends. There is only one person we can to tell you not to worry too much, and that is Martha Karua, who was Raila's running mate,” he said.
