Kenyan Newspapers, August 22: How the Hand of the White House Contributed to the Dismissal of Kawira Mwangaza

1. Daily Nation

The daily newspaper revealed that the President William Ruto he had an indirect contribution in the dismissal of the governor of Meru Kawira Mwangaza.

After winning Ruto's support, the governor's opponents accused an influential senator in the Upper House of persuading his colleagues to support the impeachment move.

“We were informed that people from the White House called. UDA senators were told to ensure that Mwangaza is removed as governor. MPs are not free, Kenya cooked,” Daily Nation quoted Kisii senator Richard Onyonka.

Azimio senators decided to withdraw from the voting citing that their colleagues had been interfered with and postponed the seriousness of the charges against Mwangaza.

The publication reported on the relief that Mwangaza got after going to court to protest his dismissal.
