The mother of a Nandi girl who recently went viral on the internet after she was seen kissing graduates at the University of East AfricaBaraton, has revealed how the exciting event happened.
The Class Two girl, Naomi Jepchirchir, was caught in an online photo drooling at the graduation ceremony at Nandi University, where the President William Ruto graced the occasion.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, the girl's mother, Milkah Chepchumba, said she and her children attended the graduation ceremony on Sunday even though they did not have any of their relatives who were graduating.
He did not want his children to miss attending such a big event that was being held in their area.
“However, after he arrived, he started bothering me a lot asking him to go see the graduates and President William Ruto who was there, I objected several times and told him not to go. However, he bothered wanting to avoid going to see Ruto,” he narrated and added that the little girl even asked for permission to greet the president.
Milkah said her daughter sneaked into the graduation tent while she was talking to another woman who asked her to move and give her space.
“The one who was standing next to me signaled to me to tell me to give them space while I was carrying my nursing baby, while I was trying to move as I was asked, Naomi went to the graduation hall without my knowledge,” he narrated.
After the conversation, he looked around and noticed that his daughter had disappeared. He tried to ask if anyone had seen the girl.
“I tried to look around for him, worried. However, shortly after, someone brought him back to me and told me he had gone all the way,” Milka said.
Unknowingly, a picture of a little girl had been taken and it was about to warm the hearts of thousands of people online.
“I found out that my daughter was trending on social media recently when I took my baby to the hospital. The doctor informed me that Naomi is trending because she was seen at the graduation ceremony,” he said.
“The doctor advised me to turn on my phone because many were looking for me. He knows many have volunteered to help me and my girl. I am still waiting for their call,” he added.
Milka said her youngest daughter has a vision of graduating one day.
“That day she told me she wanted to one day wear a graduation gown and cap like that and make her dreams come true,” this proud mother said.
