Nakuru – An accident in Migaa area in Salgaa early Tuesday morning, August 20, resulted in the death of 13 passengers.
There are fears that the death toll may rise, with rescuers suspecting that more bodies may still be trapped in the wreckage.
Survivors reveal what caused the Salgaa accident
Survivor Rhoda Atieno, who was traveling from Kisumu, revealed that the bus had 71 passengers on their way to Mombasa and that the crew were facing technical problems throughout the journey. He also mentioned that the bus had no service when it left Mombasa for Kakamega.
“The car had technical problems, especially in the mountains. When we arrived Kerichowe asked the driver to let us leave so that we could change to another vehicle, as the bus was still running. There was no car, so we waited more than an hour. maintenance, the bus started speeding up the hills and made us express our concerns, but it was too late as the brakes had failed.
“After realizing that an accident was near, we started to pray, finally our car collided with a private car and overturned causing the death of many passengers including the woman who was sitting next to me,” said Atieno.
Another victim, Jackson Odera, who was traveling to Mombasa on business, explained that he was initially confused following the accident.
“I saw darkness, then I heard people crying. I knocked on the window and got out,” he said.
Red Cross Society of Kenya reported that 55 people were rescued and taken to Coptic and Molo hospitals for emergency services.
Several people died in an accident in Kiambu
Other News, an unknown number of people died in a fatal accident that occurred in Thindigua area on the road Kiambu.
Reports indicated that the car was carrying several people who were partying on Friday, August 16, night at an entertainment party on Kiambu road.
The Subaru was said to have left the road and rolled several times before landing in a bush.
