Nairobi – President William Ruto has been criticized by some Kenyans who have accused him of relaunching the development projects of the retired president's administration Uhuru Kenyatta.
The allegations have spread on various social networks and mainstream media publications as Kenyans scrutinize his movements.
However, in response to the criticism, the Speaker of the House Hussein Mohamed issued a statement defending the president's actions.
In his statement on Saturday, August 17, Mohamed argued that completing all the stalled projects is part of the manifesto Rutowhich enabled him to be elected in the 2022 elections.
“It is a sign of responsibility for the President to ensure that all projects that are implemented, including those stalled before his election, are completed. This promise is actually part of the promises made by President @Williamsruto in the First Notice of Kenyathe very document that got him elected,” he said.
Will Ruto continue with development tours?
Mohamed reiterated that Ruto's development tours across the country would continue, saying they were part of his bottom-up economic transformation agenda.
He saw that the president will continue to launch new projects, review ongoing ones, and when necessary revive and complete stalled projects.
“So yes, in his development visits across the country, the President will continue to implement the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, including launching new projects, reviewing ongoing ones, and where necessary, reviving and completing those that were stalled before his election – All for the good of the people! Have a great and responsible weekend, folks,” he added.
Kenyans online imitate Ruto as a joke
As previously reported, Ruto has been visiting different places in the country to launch new government projects.
This has aroused the interest of Kenyans, who took to social media to humorously imitate what the president does using various objects and devices.
They tied ribbons to different objects and cut them with scissors to “launch” the objects.
The trend, dubbed #RutoLaunchedIt, had many netizens in stitches due to the humorous nature of the project's launch.
Some of the images used to simulate the launch of the project contained items such as rice, bread, an electric switch and a cup of milk, among others.
