Rongai: A KWS soldier shot and killed a customer in a bar after arguing with him

Kajiado Police have launched an investigation after a Wildlife Service (KWS) officer allegedly shot and killed a man at N'bar club in Ongata Rongai.

Citizen TV reported that the KWS ranger invaded the night club in Tumaini area along Mugis road at dawn on Saturday, August 17 and shot a man named Stanely Kuria.

The police report submitted at the Ongata Rongai Police Station states that the officer named Mohamed Daud entered the club and ordered it to be closed.

The club's employees said the soldier invaded the club and ordered all those inside to lie down and cover their faces before shooting the deceased three times.

“He continued to shoot one person three times in the back and head and directed that everyone remain in that position until morning,” the police report said.

What did those who witnessed the Rongai incident say?

Eyewitnesses said the suspect fled the area on a motorcycle and took direction Nairobi.

The bodaboda driver said the suspect threatened to cause more harm in the area if he refused to carry him to his destination.

The suspect stopped near a shop where he bought muguka and even refused to pay.

The soldier reportedly went to his home, where he later killed himself.

Preliminary investigations indicate the officer had an altercation with Stanely on Friday, August 16, around 8pm before leaving the club and later returning armed.

Elsewhere, a police officer of Kitale he mocked and killed the warden by shooting him in a wine and spirits bar, causing panic among the guards.

The shooting happened a few minutes before 4pm, Wednesday, February 18, with witnesses reporting that the officer, armed with a pistol, fired at the warden during an argument.

The fleeing visitors, including another prison guard, sought safety while the rude officer, threatening them with harm, forced businesses in the area near the Kitale Court to close.

The officer who was found in a liquor store with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was disarmed and transported to Kitale County Hospital.
