A man has been arrested in Naivasha after he was found in possession of two rounds of ammunition.
In a statement shared on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said officers acted on a tip-off and seized the illegal ammunition at a popular entertainment spot in Kinamba.
“Police Officers based at Naivasha Police Station have arrested 30-year-old man and seized two rounds of ammunition in his possession, following a crucial tip-off. Acting on an intelligence report pinpointing an individual carrying illegal ammunition at Nyama Choma Zone Bar in Kinamba, officers sprang into action,” DCI stated.
Adding;
“They descended on the location and apprehended the suspect. A thorough search revealed one 7.62mm special round and one 9mm calibre bullet in Matu’s possession. The suspect was promptly escorted to Naivasha Police Station, where he is currently being processed ahead of his arraignment.”

Police have not revealed whether the man has any links to criminal activity, but investigations are ongoing.
Separate incident
The arrest follows closely on the heels of a recent police operation in Nairobi, where detectives took 38 persons of interest into custody in connection with a series of violent attacks on unsuspecting civilians along major highways.
In a statement released on Saturday, March 15, 2025, the DCI confirmed that the persons of interest were apprehended during a law enforcement crackdown targeting criminal activities on Thika Highway, Waiyaki Way, and Jogoo Road. Authorities launched the operation after receiving reports of multiple robberies and assaults in these areas.
“In light of the recent attacks targeting innocent members of the public along Thika Highway, Waiyaki Way and Jogoo Road, police officers have taken swift action to hold the perpetrators accountable. A total of 38 suspects have been apprehended and are currently in police custody undergoing processing at various police stations as they await their court appearance,” DCI stated.
During the operation, officers recovered seven motorcycles believed to have been used in the attacks, along with several mobile phones, which have been taken as evidence.
“During the crackdown, seven motorcycles used in terrorizing members of the public and several mobile phones were recovered and are securely detained as exhibits. The suspects are set to be arraigned on Monday, where they will face various charges, including robbery with violence, preparation to commit a felony and obstruction. In the meantime, Police officers remain steadfast in their efforts to identify and apprehend additional suspects behind these attacks,” the statement further noted.
