Kenyan officer injured during operation in Haiti

A Kenyan police officer under the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission in Haiti was injured on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, while conducting a security operation in Kenscoff, within the Belot area.

Confirming the incident, MSS spokesperson Jack Ombaka, in a statement dated Wednesday, March 19, 2025, said that the injured officer was promptly evacuated to Aspen Level 2 Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention and is reported to be in stable condition.

Ombaka further expressed gratitude to all Haitians of goodwill and the broader international community for their support and well-wishes for the injured officer’s swift recovery.

In addition, he assured that updates regarding the officer’s condition and ongoing security operations will be provided through official MSS social media channels as necessary.

“Today, Tuesday, 18th March 2025, a member of the MSS Kenyan contingent was injured while conducting a security operation in Kenscoff, within the Belot area. The officer was promptly evacuated to ASPEN Level 2 Hospital, where he is receiving medical attention and is in stable condition.
We extend our gratitude to all Haitians of goodwill and others who have expressed their wishes for a swift recovery,” Ombaka said.

“We will continue to provide updates through our official social media channels as necessary. I sincerely thank you all for your unwavering support and cooperation as we engage in this decisive phase of operations against criminal elements.

Death of Kenyan officer

On Monday, February 24, 2025, Otunge announced that Kaetuai was airlifted to Aspen Level 2 Hospital in the same region. However, efforts to save him proved futile as the officer succumbed to the injuries.

“Today, Sunday, February 23rd, 2025, one of our MSS officers from the Kenyan contingent was injured during an operation in SÉGUR – SAVIEN, in the Artibonite department. The officer was immediately airlifted to Aspen Level 2 Hospital but, unfortunately, succumbed to the injuries,” the statement read.

Following his death, leaders have expressed solidarity with Haiti’s TPC President, Leslie Voltaire, visiting the MSS Headquarters on March 1, 2025,and various ambassadors in Haiti who have sent messages of condolences to the MSS family.
