Kimilili constituency Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has warned the Kenyan youth against turning up at Uhuru Park for a rally called by Inclusive National Justice, Economic & Civic Transformation (INJECT) party leader Morara Kebaso.

Barasa, in a statement shared via his official social media accounts on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, claimed that Morara was not being honest with his Jobless Rally Day event set for March 24, 2025.

The controversial United Democratic Alliance (UDA) lawmaker, who has since declared his interest in the 2027 Bungoma gubernatorial race, accused Morara of working for former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Barasa went ahead to claim that Morara was going to generate more money from the event, based on the attendance.

Barasa on Morara’s intentions

According to Barasa, the more the youth flock to Uhuru Park, the more Morara will get paid. He has, therefore, urged the youth to stay alert, claiming that the youthful government accountability advocate and political activist will be using their joblessness to make more money.

“Morara urges youth to gather at Uhuru Park on March 24 for Jobless Rally Day, yet alishapewa job pale Wamunyoro na Gachagua, the more you fill the place, the more he gets paid. Be alert, you guys! Huyu Msee ako mbokalization,” Barasa stated.

Barasa’s accusations against Morara come days after the youthful politician joined the former DP, People’s Liberation Party (PLP) party leader Martha Karua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party leader Eugene Wamalwa for a meeting to chat the way forward ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting sparked mixed reactions, with a section of the Kenyan youth accusing Morara of betrayal by joining the old generation politicians whom the Gen Z have been fighting.

Morara on his event

Morara has been urging the Kenyan youths to gather at Uhuru Park on Monday, March 24, 2025, for the Jobless Rally Day, and demand their right to employment and a better quality of life in the country.

In a video shared on his X account on Monday, March 17, 2025, Morara spoke about the struggles young people face due to unemployment. He emphasized that many youths cannot sustain themselves, afford basic needs, or even start families due to the lack of job opportunities.

He announced that the rally would take place at Uhuru Park in Nairobi, starting at 9:00 am. He urged all unemployed youth to turn up in large numbers to demonstrate the scale of the crisis and push for action from the government.

“We have been at the forefront in saying that the youth of Kenya have no jobs, they cannot feed themselves, they cannot survive, and they cannot even get married. If you are a young person and you have no job, you are a jobless youth. We are starting the Jobless Youth Movement to agitate for youth employment. On March 24th, we will be at Uhuru Park for the nationwide Jobless Rally. If you can make it, come at 9:00 am,” Morara stated.
