Riara Road ordeal

The former MP stated that the American was fatally shot after he attempted to protect his daughter from the motorcycle-riding thugs who had waylaid them along the road.

“When they arrived where the people were with the motorbike somebody pulled out a gun and asked the American boy to give a computer he was holding. The young man asks why. They turned the gun and pointed at my daughter. He then moved in and pushed my daughter out of the way of the barrel of the gun. They turned on this young man and just shot him,” Jirongo narrated.

He equally said at the time that the said thugs would later send her daughter threatening messages, warning her not to speak about the ordeal.

Jirongo served as the MP for Lugari constituency between 1997-2002 and also came back to parliament between 2007 and 2013.

He was floored by the current Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale when he vied for the Kakamega senatorial seat in 2013.
