The Multinational Security Support (MSS) has issued an update on the return progress of the body of the late Kenyan Administration Police Constable (APC) Samuel Tompoi Kaetuai, who tragically succumbed to injuries sustained during an operation in Segur-Savien in Haiti on February 23, 2025.
In a statement dated Thursday, March 6, 2025, MSS force commander Godfrey Otunge said that efforts to return the fallen officer’s body to Kenya are underway, highlighting the ongoing coordination involving MSS officials, the National Police Service, Haiti’s Foreign Relations Office, and the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In addition, the commander said that the necessary documentation is being finalized, and arrangements for transporting the body are in progress.
“Following the Sunday, February 23, 2025, communique regarding the death of one Multinational Security Support (MSS) Officer from the Kenyan Contingent who succumbed to injuries encountered during an operation in SEGUR-SAVIEN, the MSS Fraternity continues to share the grief with the family, friends and colleagues of Administration Police Constable (APC) SAMUEL TOMPOI KAETUAI. The officer exuded heroism above and beyond the call of duty and paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
“The repatriation plans of the deceased from the Dominican Republic to Kenya are ongoing and there is constant communication and coordination amongst MSS officials, the National Police Service, the Foreign Relations Office of the Dominican Republic and the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, the necessary documentation is being finalized and arrangements to transport the body are being coordinated with the relevant authorities,” the statement from MSS reads.
Kaetuai dead
On Monday, February 24, 2025, Otunge announced that Kaetuai was airlifted to Aspen Level 2 Hospital in the same region. However, efforts to save him proved futile as the officer succumbed to the injuries.
“Today, Sunday, February 23rd, 2025, one of our MSS officers from the Kenyan contingent was injured during an operation in SÉGUR – SAVIEN, in the Artibonite department. The officer was immediately airlifted to Aspen Level 2 Hospital but, unfortunately, succumbed to the injuries,” the statement read.
Following his death, leaders have expressed solidarity with Haiti’s TPC President, Leslie Voltaire, visiting the MSS Headquarters on March 1, 2025,and various ambassadors in Haiti who have sent messages of condolences to the MSS family.

Special recognition also goes to various ambassadors in Haiti who have sent messages of condolences to the MSS family. Further, on Sunday, March 2, 2025, the Inspector General of the National Police Service, Mr. Douglas Kanja, condoled with the family and friends of the late Samuel Tompoi at the deceased’s home in Kajiado County, Kenya, where he eulogized Tompoi as a hero who lost his life in the line of duty,” the statement reads.
