Kenyan musician Bien Aime Baraza is celebrating five years of marriage with his wife, Chiki Omwukwe Kuruka.

The Sauti Sol band member took to Instagram on Thursday, March 6, 2025, to express his love and appreciation for his wife in a heartfelt message.

Bien shared a series of photos and videos, reflecting on their journey together. He described Chiki as everything he prayed for and more, thanking her for being a light in his life.

“Happy 5th year anniversary. You are everything I prayed for and more . Thank you for walking this journey with me. You are a light in my life. To many more years of farting and dark jokes. ❤️ love you babe,” Bien expressed.

Chiki also marked the special occasion with her own post, celebrating their love. She reflected on their differences, noting how she loves to explore and experience life while Bien enjoys his rest. She acknowledged how they balance each other out, with her bringing energy and excitement while he provides calmness and stability.

“Happy anniversary to me and you. The thing about us is we like to laugh, we like to have a good time…… I love to experience and you love to sleep! So i speed you up and you calm me down. We have seen the world together, and laughed at/ with each other throughout,” Chiki noted.

Hurdles of marriage

In a past interview, Bien opened up about the challenges he faced in his marriage to Chiki, revealing that at one point, he almost called it quits.

“My wife and I have been married for two years now, we got married a week before the pandemic started. When you get married, nobody gives you the tools, people are happy for you. For a long time in my life, I only looked at my wife as a love interest romantically and then the pandemic happened,” he shared.

Being confined together during lockdown put a strain on their relationship.

“Being in the house all day with my chick every day, amazing as she is, it was driving me nuts. The small things became the big things and eight months in, I was like I want a divorce, this is too much,” Bien admitted.

“I started going for counselling and I was like men I don’t wanna be married. I didn’t realise that when we were dating, I was just travelling. I would come back for two weeks and I was all lovey-dovey, then my house was empty for a whole year and I was like babe move into my house instead of paying rent.”

Over time, he said his perspective changed, especially when Chiki took on the role of managing his career.

“The true colours started to show from me and we went through a rough patch and we somehow managed to figure it out. In my journey of Alone Together, my wife has been my manager, she is amazing at managing me and it totally flipped and made me even love her more.”

In a past social media post, the ‘Chikwere‘ hitmaker acknowledged Chiki as the person who has had the most extraordinary impact on his life. He praised her for her love, patience, and support in his career.

“She has been the cornerstone of my music career, so loving, assuring, generous, patient, and much more. She deserves the world and more, I pray for abundance and all the good things money can’t buy,” he wrote.
