Gabby Thomas left in dilemma as freak gym accident threatens to put her plans on hold

American sprint queen Gabby Thomas is facing a dilemma after an embarrassing gym accident that is threatening to put her plans on hold.

Multiple Olympics champion Gabby Thomas is among athletes who have a meticulous training regimen that has every detail well planned.

Thomas has on numerous occasions enumerated how she plans her week during the season with each day set aside for a specific purpose.

For the 28-year-old, Mondays often serve as active recovery days, focusing on mobility and flexibility to prepare for the week’s intense sessions, while Tuesdays are reserved for sprinting and weightlifting.

Wednesdays are for strength and conditioning, with technical drills and speed work taking place on Thursdays. On Friday, she does speed endurance drills before taking a rest on weekends.

Usain Bolt has hit back at Michael Johnsn’s claims that the American would have obliterated him had both athletes ever gotten the chance to compete.

However, it is one of her Tuesday routines that has left her in pain and embarrassment as she hurt herself on the forehead while in the gym and is now struggling with how to ensure she heals quickly because she has media commitments that might be challenging to execute in such a condition.

“I am so mad right now, I was in the weight room doing snatches, something I do all the time, I have been doing it for about a decade now. It’s my job and I hit myself up on the head and now I have a knot,” Thomas shared to her followers on TikTok.

“Just like a golf ball in the middle of the head. Never mind the fact that it is embarrassing. I have media stuff this week and this weekend. We have a self-by-self quest coming this week so I am just hoping that it goes away.

“Hopefully, if I go home and ice it, it will just go away. Let me know if you have any tips to get rid of that. I am so mad, this is literally something only I would do,” Thomas further explained, asking her followers for tips about how to quickly eliminate the swelling.

Thomas will be thankful that it was not a season-defining accident that would have crushed her 2025 campaign before it even starts.

The sprinter, who won Olympics gold in 200m, 4x100m and 4x400m relay in Paris last year, will open her season with the Grand Slam Track, which will gun off with the first leg in Kingston, Jamaica on April 4.

Grand Slam Track also has legs in Miami, Philadelphia and Los Angeles after which Thomas will turn her focus to the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo Japan in September.
