A day after Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua announced a major overseas job recruitment drive in Roysambu, thousands of hopeful job seekers have turned up at Jesus Winner Ministry on March 5, 2025, for the opportunity.
The church was filled to capacity with many eager to secure these desirable employment opportunities.
Speaking at the event, Mutua who was presiding over the event, urged more Kenyans to apply for the jobs arguing that there is a lot of demand for Kenyan labour.
“Kenyan labour is blessed, and we are very lucky, our young people are dynamic, very smart, hardworking, they are well educated, they are well spoken, well groomed and generally Kenyans are very good looking so we provide the best labour in the world and the world wants Kenyan labour. It is up to us to make arrangements and if we plan ourselves well, we will send more people abroad to get money and send it back to your parents and to improve your lives,” he stated.

This two-day recruitment exercise, taking place from March 5-6, 2025, is part of the government’s Kazi Majuu initiative, which aims to enhance labour mobility and provide meaningful employment for Kenyan youth abroad.
The initiative follows President William Ruto’s pledge to expand overseas job opportunities for young people.
Government support
In a statement posted on his X account on March 4, 2025, Mutua assured applicants of significant government support for selected individuals.
He noted that successful candidates would have their passports processed within one to two days, and financial assistance would be available for those unable to cover costs related to visa applications, medical examinations, and travel expenses.

“Those successfully recruited will receive passports within a day or two, and the government will provide options for funding for those who cannot afford processing fees, visas, medicals, tickets,” Mutua stated.
He also mentioned that select job categories would include benefits such as accommodation, insurance, transportation, and overtime pay.
“This initiative aligns with the Government’s commitment to providing meaningful employment to Kenyans while ensuring fair terms and conditions of work,” Mutua added.
Available job opportunities
In his March 4, 2025 statement, Mutua detailed the job drive, which targets opportunities in several sectors, including healthcare, hospitality, construction, transportation, and maritime industries.
Qualified nurses will have the opportunity to secure employment in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Dubai, and Australia. Positions for drivers—open to both male and female applicants—will be available, with priority given to individuals who have previously held licenses in the Gulf region.
Additionally, job openings for delivery riders will be available in the United Arab Emirates.

The hospitality sector will recruit waiters, waitresses, stewards, and chefs, while the construction industry will offer roles such as masons, carpenters, scaffolders, electricians, plumbers, and general construction workers.
Furthermore, there will also be openings for seafarers and jobs on cruise ships, among other opportunities.
