On Monday, March 3, the National Commission for Equality and Compatibility (NCIC) accused the former DP of making statements that were provocative.

Why did the NCIC warn Rigathi Gachagua?

In a letter sent to Gachagua by NCIC chairman Samuel Kobia, the former Mathira MP was warned against making statements that could undermine the peace of peace in different ethnic communities.

Kobia was referring to Gachagua's allegations that the President was plotting to oust the Chief Justice Martha Koome.

“Your claim that there is a conspiracy created by the President to remove the Chief Justice in the office because of his tribe is misleading and aimed at promoting negative ethnicity and it is possible to raise feelings of violence among Kenyans and thus weaken living together in peace,” The letter seen by TUKO.co.ke read in part.

The NCIC accused the former deputy president for warning him Ruto Against a visit to Meru County if Koome will be removed from office.

According to Kobia, Gachagua's threats were a violation of the President's constitutional rights as a symbol of national unity.

“After reviewing the statements/words associated with you, the Commission warns them to abstain and choose your words more carefully. Since freedom of expression is confirmed by our constitution, you are advised not to engage in pronunciation that are similar to war propaganda, violence, hate speech or hate defense on the basis of discrimination,” Said Kobia.

At the same time, President Ruto criticized Gachagua -led politicians, accusing them of lacking a strong plan for Kenyans.

Ruto said the former deputy president was losing the time to make the campaign agenda before the 2027 general election.

The head of state criticized the opposition for lacking direction and targeting him alone rather than presenting the right policies.

Rigathi Gachagua responds to Ruto

For his part, the former Deputy President advised President Ruto to stop complaining about criticism of the opposition and instead focus on fulfilling his election promises.

Addressing believers at the Gospel Confirmation Center in Machakos on Sunday, March 2, the former Mathira MP stressed that the opposition would continue to hold the Ruto government accountable.

Gachagua said that the government is responsible for issues such as kidnapping, arbitrary killings, a healthy health system and economic challenges.
