It's been a year now since Kelvin Kiptum, a world record holder died in a road accident. On February 11, his family and the athletic world gathered to remember the athlete.
While others celebrate his great achievements in sports, his parents remain more questions.
Kiptum lost his life with his coach Gervais Hakimana of Rwanda, according to the BBC Sport. Sadness is still in the hearts of his father, Elder Samson Cheruiyot.
Kiptum's parents want answers about the accident that killed your son
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke alone, Cheruiyot wants to know what has happened to her baby, but no answers are coming, thus extending the pain.
“It is very sad. So far we have not received information on how my son, Kelvin Kiptum and Gervais [Hakizimana, Kocha wa Kiptum] The Rwandans died. We go to the grave every morning to tell my baby to lift up the head. Today, when I try to go see a car that killed my son in Kaptagat and Iten, it's an empty problem.
Cheruiyot says he wanted to bring home a car that killed his son, but it has been a controversial journey.
“I tried to show documents confirming that I was a close relative. I showed them, they threw it away. I just want the car to be kept in a garage built by Kiptum.
“If anyone blocked my son's car in Kaptagat, the car should be and the one who prevented it would rot.

Kiptum participated in the three marathons in his short life and made history in all. He started for the first time in Valencia where he recorded the fastest marathon for 2:01:53. He also set a record for the 2023 London Marathon (2:01:25)
He was the first athlete to run for less than two hours when he broke the world record (2:00:35) at the Chicago Marathon in October 2023, according to worldly athletics.
