FKF sets high targets for incoming Harambee Stars coach

Football Kenya Federation has revealed the high expectations put on the shoulders of South African legend Benni McCarthy who is set to be appointed Harambee Stars coach.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) expects the new Harambee Stars coach to build a good team that will be competitive in Africa and beyond.

South African legend Benni McCarthy is the man set to be handed the reins, with his unveiling reported to be this week, and FKF feel they have got the right man who they believe will achieve their objectives.

The 47-year-old will be given a free hand to select his team and he will be expected to come up with a side capable of competing well in Africa after Kenya’s failure to seal a place at the last three editions of the Africa Cup of Nations.

South African legend Benni McCarthy has reportedly decided on the men who will join his technical bench when he takes over as Harambee Stars coach.

“We have a new coach Benni McCarthy who will be taking over the team and is expected to arrive in the country before the end of the week. He is a qualified coach who we believe can steer the national team to prosperity,” a FKF official told Nation.

“Our aim is to build a good team that will take Kenya back to the glory days and everything will be done on merit, including selection to the national team.
