Video of Wafula Chebikati Announces Ruto as President creates a hybrid feeling

Former Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Fula chebikati He passed away on Thursday, February 20 following the war against an unnamed illness.

Did Chebikati declare William Ruto as president?

Chebikati played a major role in the 2017 and 2022 general elections, both of which were hit by fierce competition and opposed to the highest court.

Following his death, Kenyans distributed videos from August 15, 2022, showing him announcing him William Ruto as the fifth president of Kenya.

The video shows Chebikati in the Bomas of Kenya, announcing that Ruto has defeated Raila Odinga, George Wajackoyahand Higa Mwaure in the presidential election.

“I Wafula Chebikati, Chairman of the Independent Commission, Elections and Boundaries I announce that Ruto, William Samoei has been elected as President of the Republic of Kenya under the provisions of Article 138 of the Constitution in the presidential election held on August 9 2022,” Chebikati said.

His announcement was received with excitement from a crowd that flooded the Bomas of Kenya as he signed a certificate.

Then Chebikati called Ruto on the platform to receive the certificate before taking photos together.
