Faith Kipyegon revealed that not much will be changing this season since her main goal is to compete in the 1500m and hopefully defend her title later this year at the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Faith Kipyegon also noted that she might incorporate the 5000m and 10,000m and later switch to the marathon if all goes well.
She reflected on the challenges of the 2024 season where she had an injury at the start of the season and was forced to start it a bit late, at the Kenyan Olympic trials.
“I will still be competing in the 1500m but it’s good to try something else. Last year, I got a little bit of challenges and got injured during my preparations towards the Olympics and I had to start my season late,” Faith Kipyegon revealed.
“I’m grateful to be healthy this season and start my season with the cross country and see what will happen going forward. The 1500m or a mile is almost the same and there is not much difference.”
After the Sirikwa Classic Cross Country Championships, Faith Kipyegon will now shift focus to the track season, having already been confirmed for the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen.
