“I have never been out of government at once. And in 2027, I will still be in government. For now, we have to focus on progress,” He said.

Waiguru expressed his concern about the increase in Mount Kenyan politicians visiting Gachagua in his Wamunyoro residence. He criticized them in conjunction with the former Deputy President, who, after being ousted, has set himself up as a leader of the opposition to the government.

According to Waiguru, any leader who appears to be involved in the Gacita camp is at risk of losing government -backed political opportunities, including receiving party consent and election support.

He advised his colleagues not to make immediate decisions on political union that relies on short -term conditions, as they may find themselves left without political direction by elections.

“As the governor of Kirinyaga, I do not want to see my people being deceived. And I advise my people who want to run for leadership positions in 2027, do not rush to Gachagua because you will not be sure to get nomination tickets,” He said.

In addition, the governor dismissed Gachagua's efforts to form a new political party, questioning his sustainability and the challenges that could face prospective candidates.

He said even if Gachagua succeeded in launching the party, the competition in it would be fierce, which would leave many leaders without political direction.

In addition, he emphasized that due to his resignation, Gachagua is currently not eligible for any public office, which is still in court. Waiguru urged officials to focus on development rather than engaging in early political change that could not bear fruit in the long run.
