Kabras Sugar continued their dominant run in the 2024/2025 Kenya Cup season with a commanding 43-22 victory over Kenya Harlequin at the RFUEA Grounds on Saturday.
The defending champions asserted their authority from the first whistle, ensuring an eighth consecutive win in style.
The match kicked off explosively as Erick Cantona wasted no time, diving over the line in the first minute to put Kabras ahead 5-0.

Patrick Lumumba followed up with another try, extending the visitors’ lead to 12-0. However, Kenya Harlequin responded with two well-taken penalties, narrowing the deficit to 12-6.
Kabras struck again before halftime through Griffin Chao’s try, pushing the score to 17-6. Harlequin managed to slot in another penalty at the start of the second half, making it 17-9, but Kabras quickly regained momentum.
George Nyambua powered through for a try, with Cantona adding the extras to stretch the lead to 24-9. Hillary ‘Starboy’ Odhiambo then showcased his finishing prowess with a stunning try in the corner, putting the scores at 29-12.

It was a year of several highs for Kenya 7s, such as sealing back qualification to the HSBC Sevens World Series, but also a few lows.
Nyambua was back on the scoresheet with another try, this time off a maul, and Ntabeni Dukisa successfully converted to make it 34-15.
Harlequin finally found their first try of the match through Leon Nyang, who chased down a kick to touch down, closing the gap to 36-22 after a successful conversion.
Dukisa had the final say, executing a brilliant dummy-and-go move to score between the sticks before converting his own try, sealing Kabras’ emphatic 43-22 triumph.
With this victory, Kabras Sugar further cement their status as the team to beat in the Kenya Cup, while Kenya Harlequin will look to regroup ahead of their next fixture.
Black Blad 50-3 South Coast Pirates
Blak Blad ended their five-match losing streak with a commanding 50-3 victory over South Coast Pirates at Kenyatta University Grounds.
They dominated the scrums and set pieces, with Shuaib Wesonga opening the scoring and Enoch Oduor converting.
Asena Amayi added a second try before halftime, giving Blak Blad a 12-0 lead. The second half saw Blak Blad extend their advantage with a penalty try and a series of well-executed scores, reaching the half-century mark before sealing the win.
Nakuru 32-22 Kisumu RFC
Nakuru RFC secured their first Kenya Cup win of the season, defeating Kisumu RFC 32-22 at Nakuru Athletics Club.
Veteran Edwins Makori put Nakuru ahead, but Kisumu equalized through Joseph Wanjala. Fredrick Odongo restored Nakuru’s lead, and Felix Okoth added two tries to make it 22-10 at halftime.
Kisumu fought back with tries from Darrell Omondi and Duncan Shigali, earning a losing bonus point. However, Nakuru had the final say, scoring a decisive try to seal the 32-22 victory and end their seven-match losing run.
