The election held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Saturday, February 15, saw African heads of state casting their votes in the race to run for the continent's top leadership.

Following his failure, Raila graciously accepted, and thanked the leaders for exercise their democratic rights and expressed his commitment to the principles of democracy.

“In the case, we were not successful,” Raila said. “We must strengthen democracy on the African continent. So, I agree to fail. I want us to use this as an example of strengthening democracy in Africa. I wish you all the best of my competitor Mahamoud Ysouff Ali and success in his new role.”

The long -standing opposition leader also expressed his gratitude to the African nations who supported him for the presidency.

“I thank the people of Africa, as well as the countries that have voted for me and those that have not voted for me for participating in this democratic process. Viva Africa!” He said.

Reflecting on the outcome, he remained optimistic and glory, saying:

“When you get into a competition, there are only two possible consequences-win or fail, and this is one. I am not in pain; in fact, I am happy. I continue to be available to provide my services to Africa whenever needed,” he added.

The resolution leader also mentioned his subsequent steps, saying his intention to return home and focus on other activities.

“I'll be back home; there are so many things I need to do there,” He said.

The former prime minister's agreement and his commitment to democratic values ​​were highly commended, thus signaling an important moment in Africa's ongoing efforts to promote unity and democratic governance.

Youssouf won the race by 33 votes after Raila withdrew in the sixth term of voting.

What did Raila say about DR Congo's dispute?

Commenting on the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Raila expressed his concern over humanitarian crisis and called for immediate action to resolve the situation.

He expressed sadness at the massive loss of wealth and people's lives and demanded that the matter be remedied as soon as possible.
