Veteran gospel-turned-secular artiste Kelvin Bahati has left his wife, socialite Diana Marua, in utter disbelief after surprising her with Ksh 8 million as a Valentine’s gift.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, February 14, 2025, Bahati shared a video capturing the jaw-dropping moment at an exclusive location, where the picturesque view of a dam provided a dreamy backdrop.
As the couple enjoyed their intimate setup, Bahati retrieved a bag brimming with stacks of cash before dramatically spilling the hefty sum onto the table next to Diana.
The singer, clearly revelling in the moment, informed Diana that the money was just the beginning of the surprises he had lined up for her, making it clear that the actual gift was yet to come.
“This is not even the gift; it’s just something small as I start planning the real surprises. This is Ksh5 million in cash, and I’ve wired you the remaining Ksh3 million via RTGS,” he revealed.
Diana’s overwhelmed reaction
The extravagant gesture unfolded in a beautifully decorated setting where red and white flowers formed a grand heart-shaped arrangement around their intimate dinner table.
Diana, caught off guard by the sheer magnitude of the surprise, could hardly believe what she was witnessing.
She repeatedly asked Bahati if he was serious or simply playing a prank, her disbelief turning into sheer joy as she jumped up, wrapped him in a tight embrace, and screamed in excitement.
Seeing her reaction, Bahati cheekily asks whether she is ready to pop a bottle of champagne, and before she even responds, he swiftly uncorks it, sending her into an emotional frenzy.
“No, baby, you’re lying! Are you serious? I can’t believe it!” Diana exclaimed, visibly overwhelmed by the gesture.
Bahati, ever the showman, reiterated that the Ksh 8 million was merely a small token for her to pamper herself and enjoy her self-care luxuries.
“So, the Ksh 8 million isn’t the main gift. It’s just for you to go spoil yourself—manicures, pedicures, all the things you love. Now, can we pop some champagne?” he teased.
Diana later took to Instagram to express her emotions about the surprise, revealing that she had never imagined receiving such an extravagant gift.
She described Bahati as the perfect gift and admitted that he always managed to surprise her when she thought she had seen it all.
“8 million ksh on a Valentine’s??? I have never dreamed of receiving such a surprise from anyone,” she wrote.
She noted that words could not fully capture how much Bahati meant to her, calling him an extraordinary man. She added that just when she thought he had done everything possible to impress her, he always found a way to prove her wrong.
“I’m still in shock. He said, ‘Get ready, because from 17th to 25th of February, I will be presenting a gift every day to celebrate our 8 years of love.’ I don’t think I’ll ever be ready for you, Babe! I just want to go to sleep as I process all this,” she stated.
Lavish giver
While fans were left astonished, wondering how he could casually gift such an exorbitant amount, this is far from the first time Bahati has gone to extravagant lengths to shower Diana with opulence.
In October 2023, the seasoned musician stunned her with a brand-new Range Rover Vogue Autobiography, worth approximately Ksh 19 million, as the seventh extravagant gift to commemorate their seven years of love.
At the time, Bahati took a nostalgic moment to remind their fans of the many lavish surprises he had previously orchestrated—including when he bought her a high-end car for their fifth anniversary.
He reminisced about purchasing her a Mercedes-Benz to alternate with their Prado, especially since their children had outrightly refused to use the school bus. Reflecting on their journey, he credited divine intervention for the growth and success of their marriage, affirming that their love had only flourished, hence his endless desire to splurge on her.
