The two-time Grammy Award winner has made a major investment move after purchasing a stake in the MLS club, joining former Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata.

Nigerian singer Tems has made a major investment move by joining the ownership group of MLS club San Diego FC.

The Afrobeats singer is the latest high-profile name to purchase a stake in the California-based club which is still new to the MLS, having just been founded in May 2023.

According to a press release, the two-time Grammy winner and Oscar nominated musician has joined the San Diego FC ownership through her company The Leading Vibe.

Known for her effortless, one-of-a-kind, warm, vibrational sound, the Lagos-based singer, songwriter, and producer brings her creative spirit and passion for community to the world of soccer as San Diego FC’s partner.

Cristiano Ronaldo is still breaking scoring records at 40 but there are a number of unusual routines that he has embraced to ensure he remains on top of his game.

“We are delighted that Tems has joined San Diego FC as a club partner,” said San Diego FC chairman Sir Mohamed Mansour.

“Tems is a globally significant artist who will help us to reach new audiences and spread the word about our unique project, which of course has its foundations in sub-Saharan Africa through the unique Right to Dream organization.”

The club’s CEO Tom Penn expressed his delight at adding Tems to the ownership roster, saying she brings a different vibe to the club that finished 11th in the 14-team Western Conference table in the 2024 MLS regular season.

“We are honored to have her join our club and bring her visionary perspective to San Diego FC. Her passion for empowering the next generation aligns perfectly with our mission, and her commitment to creating opportunities for young talent domestically and globally reflects the core values of Right to Dream,” said Penn.
