Wiseman Were explains importance of LA 2028 Olympics and what he is doing behind the scenes to medal.
Wiseman Were is a man on a mission and the Los Angeles Olympic Games, three years from now, presents a golden opportunity for him to finally burst into the world’s most adored scene.
At 27, Wiseman Were is not growing younger. Already in his prime, LA 2028 should serve as redemption as the soft-spoken athlete targets the finals and a podium finish, an achievement that will not only be fulfilling but one that of course will elevate Kenyan sprints to another level after the Paris Olympic heartbreak.
Behind the scenes, Wiseman Were is working hard and getting his body in shape as he hatches a plan to stun Rai Benjamin, Karsten Warholm & Co in North America. Were – who was a medalist at the 2022 Commonwealth Games as part of the Kenya team in the 4x400m relay, and finished fourth in the final of the 400m hurdles, is banking on intense, high-altitude training to build on endurance, strength, technique, and mental fortitude.
“My training has become more intense,” he told Flashscore. “I’m focusing on high-altitude training. Kenya has been instrumental in developing world-class endurance athletes. The high-altitude environment helps build my stamina and increases my lung capacity.”
The Games returned to Los Angeles for the third time as the city held the version of the games in 1932 and 1984. Were will hope to perform better in the 3.8million populous city and further inspire young sprinters back home.
“Nothing comes easy. It takes patience, resilience, and hard work. My journey is proof that with determination, anything is possible. To all young athletes, I say – keep pushing forward, and never give up on your dreams.”
Were faces a defining moment in LA 2028, one that has a lot of importance in his career. He is yet to light up the international stage. Could Los Angeles finally be the place Wiseman Were will unleash his arsenals?
