World champion Sha’Carri Richardson has issued an ultimatum for racing IShowSpeed.
Women’s 100m world champion Sha’Carri Richardson has issued a bold ultimatum to viral YouTuber Darren Jason Watkins Jr., better known as IShowSpeed or simply Speed, following a lively encounter at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Richardson and the viral YouTuber crossed paths amid preparations for the NFL Super Bowl showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Richardson, who attended the event with her boyfriend, fellow sprinter Christian Coleman, was confronted by Speed, who eagerly challenged her to a race.
However, Richardson immediately dismissed the idea on the spot but offered certain ultimatums for a race in the future.
“We gotta race, we gotta race Sha’Carri,” insisted Speed in video seen by Pulse Sports posted to the YouTuber’s fan page on X.
Before agreeing to a head-to-head race, Richardson laid down a clear condition, stating, “Before you race, I gotta teach you how to be a sprinter first. So if you wanna come down to my training camp and maybe train for a week or a couple of days, I’ll give you no date.”
Noah Lyles has offered to train IShowSpeed, only if he would agree to put his streaming career on a halt and change a few things about his lifestyle.
Speed attempted to negotiate a quicker timeline claiming Richardson was ducking her as Richardson ultimately accepted his proposal but added a stipulation.
“Okay, if you want a day, you do my entire workout and after that, we get some more. But you got to do what I do first… You got to be a track athlete first before you race.”
“Why are you ducking me?” asked Speed to which Richardson answered, “I’m not ducking you gotta be an athlete first.”
The YouTuber has previously expressed confidence in his sprinting abilities, fueling speculation about whether he could seriously compete against elite athletes Richardson among them.
In 2024, he raced Olympic champion Noah Lyles in a 50-yard dash but fell short in the final stretch.
After losing to Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles in a 50m race, YouTuber IShowSpeed has challenged American sprint queen Sha’Carri Richardson to a race.
Following that loss, Speed went on a heated rant, calling out top speedsters, including NFL star Tyreek Hill, who is currently embroiled in his own rivalry with Lyles over claims of being the fastest man in sports.
After the encounter Lyles offered to train the YouTube star for the 2028 LA Olympics if he committed
Now, with a possible race against Richardson on the horizon, fans eagerly await whether Speed will rise to the occasion or face another humbling defeat at the hands of an elite track athlete.
