The veteran politician called the decision as a “common opinion” in a law that does not force and has no practical effect.
Through his legal adviser, Benson Milimo, Wetang'ula explained that the court had not ordered him to release any office.
“I want to assure the nation with Ford Kenya's brotherhood that there is no serious reason. Milimo said in a statement to the media sent to the newsrooms on Friday, February 7.
Is Wetang'ula's position affected by the 'opinions' of the judges?
He also emphasized that at all times the court ruled that Wetang'ula should resign as Speaker of the National Assembly or cease to be the leader of the Ford Kenya Party.
However, he confirmed that Wetang'ula and his party would appeal against the Supreme Court's decision, stressing that the decision did not affect the Speaker's status.
“This means that Moses Masika Wetang'ula remains the leader of the Ford Kenya party as well as the Speaker of the National Assembly. He added.
However, the decision made by judges John Chigiti, Lawrence Mugambi, and Jairus Ngaah had no doubt.
Why did the Supreme Court blam Wetang'ula
The judges found Wetang'ula in a clear violation of the constitution, saying that he had to resign as a party leader after taking over.
“The role of the two parties is illegal and unconstitutional. As soon as he was the Speaker of the National Assembly, he ceased to be the leader of Ford Kenya,” The court decided.

The decision was bringing a blow to Wetang'ula's complex decision of October 6, 2022, in which he declared Kenya the first party in parliament, emphasizing that it had 179 members compared to 157 of Union Declaration.
The three judges' bench said that although the Speaker of Parliament had evidence from the Registrar of Political Parties showing that the Resolution Coalition was the main party, he completely ignored the evidence.
The judges said that the allegations of the Speaker and the leader of the majority Kimani Ichung'wah that there was a post -election agreement between One Kenya Alliance and other resolution coalition parties were never supported by any evidence.
