Arsenal legend Thierry Henry explains how divorce torture is affecting Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City side.
It has been a stressful few months for Spanish manager Pep Guardiola both on and off the pitch.
In a challenging season that has seen Manchester City drop out of the top four at this stage of the season, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has claimed that Pep Guardiola is ‘not mentally well’ amid his split from wife Cristina Serra.
City delivered a lackluster performance in the 5-1 thumping by Arsenal last weekend, piling more misery to the defending champions who are 15 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool.
Thierry Henry, who also went through a divorce shortly after joining Barcelona in 2007, sympathises with Guardiola: “Do I feel sorry about what’s happening to Man City and Pep? Yeah I do, in one thing,” Henry told the Daily Mail.
“It’s not easy to deal with what Pep has to deal with outside of football. I went through that when I went to Barcelona. It’s not easy to deal with stuff like that, when you’re not well mentally.”

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is in the process of finalizing his separation from his wife Cristina Serra but how much will he lose in divorce settlement?
Reports in January claimed that Guardiola had split from his wife Cristina after 30 years together after the Spanish manager opted to extend his stay with the former Champions League winners untill 2027.
“You can see that he’s not his usual self. I had to deal with it when I went to Barcelona, I can tell you it’s not easy. No one would like to deal with that while you have to perform all the time. So I think we can understand,” Henry, who boasts of 774 career goals across spells at Arsenal, Barcelona l, Monaco and New York, reiterated.
Guardiola, 53, married Serra in a ceremony on the outskirts of Barcelona in 2014, 20 years after the couple first met in 1994.
Manchester City have already lost seven matches this season, while their five draws condemns the team to fifth position, as Guardiola endures a nightmare in English football.
