According to France24, UN Secretary -General Stéphane Dujarric confirmed the moratorium on the funding, saying:

“We received official information from the United States requesting a termination of work immediately about their contribution to the trust fund for the International Security Assistance Message (MSS).”

The MSS delegation, supported by the UN Security Council but is not a UN -led operation, is based on voluntary contributions from participating nations.

Although the program has received funding for more than KSh 14 trillion especially from countries like Canada it continues to face the challenges of supply and workers while Haiti gangs expand their control over Port-or-Prince and other areas.

As the United States ends its contribution, concerns are increasing on the sustainability of the message and the fate of Haiti's fragile security situation.

The obstacle also occurs in a difficult time, with Kenya preparing to send additional officers, including the SWAT women's team, to strengthen the security efforts in Haiti.
