A senior police officer lost his life today early in the morning after his motorcycle was involved in a grisly accident along the Malaba-Angurai road.
The victim, identified as the Deputy Officer Commanding Station (OCS) of Malaba Police Station, was involved in the accident at around 2:30 am in Ketebat along the Malaba-Angurai road after his motorcycle lost control after hitting a pothole.
Confirming the incident, Teso North Sub County Police Commander Charles Chepkonga noted that they were saddened and shocked by the incident which led to the demise of a young dedicated and hardworking inspector who was committed to his work.
“This is a tragic loss for us. We call upon all road users, especially motorcyclists, to exercise caution and follow traffic regulations especially when riding at night,” Chepkonga stated.
Chepkonga added that the officers from Malaba Police Station, responded swiftly to the scene, only on arrival to be shocked to discover that the victim was one of their own.
He was rushed to Kocholya Hospital with severe head injuries but succumbed while undergoing treatment.
The accident has reignited concerns over the poor state of roads in the area, with residents calling for immediate repairs to prevent further tragedies.
