The American sprint queen has revealed when and where her first race will be, putting rivals Shericka Jackson and Elain Thompson-Herah on alert.
Olympics champion Gabby Thomas will not be featuring in many events this year just like she did in 2024.
Thomas, who benefited from a scaled down program to win Olympics gold in 200m, 4x100m and 4x400m relay in 2024, intends to keep it that way as well this year, with the inaugural Grand Slam Track, World Championships and Athlos the only events she intends to feature in.
“I have my first race April in Kingston, Jamaica so you can follow around Grand Slam Track and Field and then I will have my World Championships in September in Tokyo and then Athlos which is our women’s track league which is also about to be announced after the World Championships,” Thomas said on Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce.
Gabby Thomas highlights the unique differences sprinters have over distance runners, from training routines to lifestyle flexibility.
That means Thomas will feature in four races before the World Championships as the first leg of the Grand Slam Track will take place in Kingston from April 4-6 before the leg moves to the United States where Miami will stage it from May 2-4 before Philadelphia takes over from May 30-June 1 after which Los Angeles will close from June 27-29.
The league is being spearheaded by US sprint legend Michael Johnson and it has lucrative rewards for its participants with winners set to pocket $100,000 per leg with the cash rewards going down up to the 10th place finisher.
Thomas will then switch her attention to the 2025 World Championships taking place in Tokyo, Japan from September 13-21 where she will be looking to win her first world title after managing 200m silver in Budapest, Hungary in 2023.
Olympics champion Gabby Thomas has opened up on the personal reasons that made her choose to study Neurobiology at Harvard University.
The 28-year-old will finish her season at the women’s-only Athlos, another lucrative event that has a $60,000 reward for each of its winners.
Thomas started her training in December and she would have put in four months of preparations by the time she takes to the track for her first race.
