Jamaican sprint king Kishane Thompson has opened up about one of his major weaknesses that have cost him in recent years.

Looking ahead, Kishane Thompson wants to work on that setback, believing that it would be a great step toward the right direction as he chases greatness.

The Olympic 100m silver medallist admitted that he has always been too hard on himself even on days he genuinely showed up and revealed that he has also struggled to process some of his performances.

There is no doubt that Kishane has been disadvantaged by injuries and he disclosed that on days when he would perform well due to the same, he never wanted to give himself enough grace to process everything.

Living in the moment and celebrating the small wins is something that Kishane Thompson also struggles with and coming into 2025, he wants to change that.

“Honestly, I’ve taken a lot, even the simple things just as recovering, I can’t be hard on myself. (Being hard on myself) is one of my major disadvantages. When things don’t go how I expected but also knowing to grasp the moment,” Kishane Thompson said in an interview with Jamaican Sports journalist Trishana McGowan.

Last season, Kishane Thompson broke into the limelight with his world-leading time of 9.77 seconds at the Jamaican Olympic trials.

He then went on to the Paris Olympic Games and did not disappoint his fans with an impressive second-place finish in 9.79 seconds behind Noah Lyles who was just milliseconds ahead.

Kishane Thompson has already started his 2025 campaign and will be looking to maintain the momentum until the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan in September.
