Expressing her joy following her younger sister’s achievement, Devynne Charlton shared a screengrab of her performance on her Instagram stories and said: “Y’all sister could never!! World #1, national record, #2 all-time collegiate LFG.”
Her performance places her among the greats and considering she is only 21, she has a long way to go when it comes to making waves in the world of track and field.
Last season, she managed to do impressively well, from the indoor events to the outdoor. She finished fourth in the long jump at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships after leaping 6.59m.
Anthaya also anchored the Bahamian 4x100m relay team to victory at the same event, cementing her place as one of the versatile athletes.
She competed at the Bahamian Championships which also acted at the Olympic trials and finished second in the 100m and first in the long jump but her performance did not meet the requirements of the International Olympic Committee hence missing out on the global event.
This season, having started on an impressive note, she will be eyeing a slot at the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan later this year, looking to join her sister in the global adventure.
