Uhuru Kenyatta pays glowing tribute to Wachira Waruru’s brother

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has paid tribute to the late Kanja Waruru, describing him as a devoted family man, a patriotic Kenyan, and a person of great integrity.

In a statement shared by the Office of the Fourth President of Kenya, Kenyatta spoke during Kanja’s interment ceremony held in Chaka, Nyeri County, on Saturday, February 1.

In his eulogy, the former Head of State highlighted Kanja Waruru’s remarkable character, emphasizing his kindness, humility, and dedication to family and friends.

“Kanja was not just a brother to Wachira but a brother and friend to all of us who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, humility, and dedication to family and friends have left a legacy that will endure,” Kenyatta expressed.

The burial service was led by Senior Pastor Elijah Wanje of Ridgeways Baptist Church and drew a large gathering of mourners, including prominent figures from both local and national government.

Among those in attendance were Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development Mutahi Kagwe, former ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru, and the founder and chairman of Royal Media Services, SK Macharia.

Kanja Waruru was the brother of Wachira Waruru, the Group Managing Director of Royal Media Services.

Waruru’s memorial service

On Friday, January 31, 2025, Uhuru also attended the late Kanja’s memorial service at Ridgeways Baptist Church.

Uhuru conveyed his condolences, encouraging the bereaved family to find comfort in their faith, cherished memories, and the support of loved ones during this challenging time.

“Former President Uhuru Kenyatta joined the family, friends, and relatives of the late Kanja Waruru at a memorial service at Ridgeways Baptist Church,” a statement by the Office of the Fourth President of Kenya read in part.

Adding;

“In his message, Kenyatta expressed deep sadness over Kanja’s death and urged the grieving family to find strength in their faith, in happy memories, and in the support of people around them as they go through this difficult moment.”

Kanja Waruru, son of former Cabinet Minister Waruru Kanja, passed away in India on January 24, 2025, while receiving treatment.
