Croatian coach emerges as top candidate for Gor Mahia coaching job

Gor Mahia is set to appoint a new head coach with an experienced candidate emerging as a top contender for the role.

Croatian native Sinisa Mihic is one of the top candidates being considered for the vacant head coaching position at Gor Mahia.

The highly respected tactician is among a shortlist of seven names that the club’s hierarchy is currently evaluating before making a final decision.

The Ugandan international is keen to help the Brewers to the league title following his move from Kampala-based Police FC.

Mihic, who boasts a wealth of experience in football management across multiple countries, is seen as a strong contender to take over at K’Ogalo.

“We are taking our time to make the best decision for the club. Mihic is among the top names on our list, and his track record speaks for itself,” a source at Gor Mahia told Pulse Sports.

Mihic’s managerial journey began in the 2009/10 season when he served as Assistant Manager at Sudanese club Al-Merrikh SC.

After a season, he took up a similar role at Al-Nasr in the UAE during the 2010/11 campaign. His continuous growth in the game saw him land his first full managerial position with Al-Ahli Youth in the 2012/13 season.

The Croatian coach later transitioned into youth development, a key aspect of his coaching philosophy, when he took charge of Al-Fahaheel SC’s youth team in 2013. His work with young talents was impressive, leading to a promotion as the club’s senior team manager in 2014, a position he held for two seasons.

Mihic took a break from management before returning in the 2019/20 season with Al-Shabab. He later moved to Croatia, where he managed NK Crikvenica in the 2020/21 season. His most recent role was as an assistant coach at Al-Salmiya SC in Kuwait in 2022, though it was a short-lived stint.

Gor Mahia officials are said to be keen on a coach who can bring stability and tactical discipline to the squad. Mihic’s vast experience across different leagues, including Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, makes him a compelling choice.

“We want a coach who understands our philosophy and ambitions. Mihic has worked in different environments and knows how to handle pressure, which is crucial for a club of our stature,” another source within Gor Mahia’s management stated.
