Beatrice Chebet was born on March 5, 2000, and as of January 2025, she is 24 years old. She was raised in the Rift Valley region and was introduced to running during her primary school years.

Chebet attended Saramek Secondary School in Londiani, graduating in 2013 and in November of 2016, she joined the Lemotit Athletics Club, marking the beginning of her professional athletic career.

She started her dominant exploits at quite a young age, winning the 5000m at the World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland. She became the first Kenyan woman and the first non-Ethiopian since 2006 to win the 5000m at the event.

In 2023, she secured the gold medal in the women’s senior race at the World Cross Country Championships and defended her title in 2024.

She also won the silver medal in the 5000m at the 2022 World Championships and won the 5000m at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

On May 25, 2024, at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, Beatrice Chebet delivered a historic performance in the women’s 10,000m.

She crossed the finish line in 28:54.14, breaking the previous world record of 29:01.03 set by Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Gidey in 2021.

Continuing her winning streak, Beatrice Chebet shattered the women’s 5 kilometers road race world record on December 31, 2024, at the Cursa dels Nassos in Barcelona.
