Olympics champion Gabby Thomas, who has a Master’s in Public Health, has weighed in on why she dislikes microwaves, explaining the best way of heating food.
Olympics champion Gabby Thomas has revealed her dislike for microwaves, weighing in on the never-ending debate on whether the kitchen appliance is actually good or bad.
Microwaves have divided opinion down the years with various experts giving varying views on their pros and cons and Thomas is among those who frown at them.
During a session on Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce, the Olympics 200m champion gave an insight into why she dislikes microwaves and why she feels people are better off using air fryers instead.
“I don’t believe in microwaves; I actually don’t believe in using pretty much any kitchen appliances except an air fryer,” said Thomas, a Harvard graduate in Neurobiology and Global Health.
“I don’t like that they don’t actually heat up your food. I think that whatever you’re eating, it’s better off cold. I haven’t used a microwave in about seven years and I don’t plan on it.”
Thomas, who also has a Master’s in Public Health, then went into further details on how microwaves do not improve food compared to other methods of heating like air fryer or even the oven.
“It is like the Ninja air fryer and it lifts up or something. Microwaves give me the heebie jeebies, they freak me out. I don’t know what they are doing, they make your food like soggy and weird,” she added.
“I would literally rather do those things (air fryer or put on the oven) than the microwave, or eat it cold.”
Olympic champion Gabby Thomas gives details about the hell she goes through before boarding flights.
Thomas, who claimed Olympics gold in 200m, 4x100m and 4x400m relay, will likely stir up further debate over the much-maligned kitchen appliance while her insights also gave fans a sneak peek into how she takes care of her diet.
The sprinter has previously revealed her dislike of the public harshly judging athletes when they have a sweet treat, exposing the delicate balancing act for sportsmen and women when it comes to what they should and should not eat.
Her take on microwaves is the latest in the catalogue of her dedication to healthy living which goes in line with her area of specialization.
