A middle-aged man has been arraigned before a Kabarnet court accused of defiling a 15-year-old girl.
It is alleged that Benjamin Koima willingly and unlawfully defiled the girl on January 7, 2025 at Kapsoiyo area of Baringo Central Sub County in contravention of the sexual offence act No.3 of 2006.
The accused who appeared before Principal Magistrate (PM) Caroline Ateya and pleaded not guilty was charged with defilement contrary to section 8(1) as read with section 8(3) of the sexual offence act no.3 of 2006.
The magistrate ordered that the suspect may be released on personal bond of Sh100, 000 with one surety of same amount.
The father of the accused, William Koima Roriema, pleaded with the magistrate to allow him stand as his son’s surety and also pay the bond as ordered by the court.
He informed the court that he understood his duties as a surety and was ready to face the consequences in events of default.
In her ruling, the magistrate approved the surety and the bond and directed the case to be mentioned on March 3rd.
