Mary (not her real name) told TUKO.co.ke that she was married in 2014 by a humble and loving man.

The two were blessed with three children, two of her husband, and one who gave birth before she was married.

She said they were living in Nairobi struggling together to make a living until her husband Mark (not her real name) found a job in the Kenya Defense Force (KDF) department.

“We were worried when we got married, he got the job of KDF later. Everything was okay, and he was a loving and very compassionate man, ” He said.

When did KDF's husband become cruel?

A few months after being hired, Mary said her husband became cruel. According to him, Mark was looking for little reasons to harm him.

For example, he would be upset by minor mistakes at home or even frustrated with the fact that his wife was not at work.

“He was a good man in the beginning. However, things began to change when he got the KDF job because he grew up cruelly. The little things were stirring him up, he was asking why I didn't work, why some things weren't right, and he suffered physically,” He said.

The mother of three said she blamed herself, thinking she was the problem, and she was always apologizing and promising to do the best, ignoring physical strokes.

He said Mark gave him a constant threat even when they were enjoying life and spending good time together.

He gave examples to say he could reach a very bad point if he realized that his wife was chasing him, but Mary didn't pay much attention.

“I thought I was the problem and I tried to fix things without knowing it would be worse. He threatened me many times saying he would hurt me one day until the media people wrote the news,” He said.

“Whenever I asked why he was thinking I would, he said that is what the KDF men do when their husbands are not there,” He explained.

How the Mombasa woman knew her husband had another family

Mary reported that her husband's other wife suddenly phoned her one day and told her that she had children and her husband.

He said that they had been married for four years when he found the truth.

However, the desperate woman admitted that she felt her husband had another woman but had no evidence until she received the call.

“He phoned to inform me that we were now his colleagues, he was living with him after getting a KDF job. He said.

The mother of three confronted her husband, who expressed deep regret, and forgave her.

“I phoned him and threatened to leave, but he came home and persuaded me to sit and he apologized for hurting me and being unfaithful. I accepted him and told him it was okay to have two wives,” He said.

However, problems continued between the couple as Mark continued to ask if his wife completely forgave him, threatening to kill him and their children if he had ever divorced him.

“After returning to normal life, he changed again, every time he doubted whether I really forgave him or I was planning to leave him,” He said.

He said that Mark started coming home with guns, knives and swords telling him that he was taught to kill.

KDF Soldier stabs his wife's knife

In June 2023, things turned out to be worse when Mary asked her husband to take them home to meet her partner and be introduced to the whole family.

“I stayed with him in June and told him to make it official at home that he was now the husband of two wives so that all wives were known. He was very angry and came home and said I was planning to leave him,” He narrated.

She said her husband took a knife and stabbed her as their children watched, leaving her bleeding for much of the night before she became unconscious and helped her stop the blood.

“I stayed in a pool of blood all night, he had picked up my phone so I couldn't call anyone. However, he washed my leg and closed it in the morning, which helped to prevent blood from coming out,“He narrated.

The young mother said she urged her to let her go in search of food for their children at two o'clock the next day, and then she could go to the neighbor and make a help.
