Nairobi – Former Minister of Home Affairs Fred Matiang'i has once again mentioned about running for the presidency in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Will Fred Matiang'i resign from work at the World Bank?

On Monday, January 27, Kisii Senator Richard Onyancha presented Matiang'i's political message to its expected political partners.

Speaking at the launch of the new Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), Onyonka revealed that Matiang'i had decided to resign from the world's top bank.

Onyancha revealed that the former interior minister informed him that he would soon leave his work in the United States and return to Kenya to focus on politics.

“Yesterday Fred Matiang'i phoned me from where he works in the World Bank in South America. He has decided to resign and return to Kenya to join our brothers, ” Onyonka said.

The Kisii senator has stated that Matiang'i has planned to hold talks with other opposition leaders including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Dap-K leader Eugene Wamalwa and former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua before deciding which political party will be vying for the seat of on top.

“Second, he said he had seen many parties mentioned him as a favored member but wanted them to wait to return home, to talk to all our brothers first and then decide the way to move forward,” he added.

In his speech, Onyancha suggested that the Wakisi community withdraw from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) before the 2027 elections.

According to Onyancha, the Kisii community has supported ODM leader Raila Odinga for many years and UKAWA during the community to prepare a new political direction.

When did the Jubilee party endure Matiang'i?

The recent events come just days after former President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Jubilee party approved Matiangi for the post.

Speaking on Saturday, January 25 in Narok County, Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni showed the belief that Matiang'i would defeat President William Ruto 2027.

The party led by former president Uhuru Kenyatta called on its supporters to spread the ambitions across the country, adding that despite the united opposition, Ruto has little chance of being re -elected.

Kioni has also called on Kenyans to embrace the minority communities, urging Mount Kenya region officials to separate and leave other communities in power.

Should Fred Matiang'i be running for the presidency?

Meanwhile, Narok Senator Ledama Olekina made his comments on the presidential election.

At Sunday's tweet, January 26, Olekina seemed to ignore the presidential election.

While questioning the source of Matiang'i's wealth, the ODM senator said it was time now to end the politics of backing politics.

The Narok senator expressed his objection to politicians to participate in early campaigns before the 2027 elections.
