Kericho – A remarkable story of resilience and determination has come to a tragic end following the tragic death of Madam Annette.
The mother of four faced enormous challenges to achieve her dream of becoming a teacher in an exciting journey of perseverance and hope.
Married at a young age, she was forced to drop out of school and endured years of abuse and violence in a very challenging marriage.
Despite his condition, he persevered in his quest to provide a better life for his children and himself.
With a firm intention to finish her studies, Annette cultivated two acres of land, planted millet and nursed for two farming seasons.
His daughter Annette told TUKO.co.ke that the income from her hard work enabled her to pay school fees while continuing to support her family.
He was enrolled at Kapmureito High School, where he did well in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary examination Education (KCSE).
“His success earned him the opportunity to join Mount Kenya University to study for a Bachelor of Arts in History and Christian Education,” said her sad daughter.
As a mother and student, Annette raised her four children alone while financing her college education.
After graduating, she got a teaching job in a girls' secondary school in Kericho on a Board of Management (BOM) contract two years ago.
According to social media influencer, Doctor Kelvin Ufa, students and colleagues knew him as a passionate teacher and a source of motivation for many.
Tragedy struck last night when Annette received an emergency call from her daughter, who is currently in college, about an emergency at home in Kericho town where her children live.
“Concerned, he asked for permission to leave work at night to deal with the matter,” the girl continued.
About half an hour in the evening, when he tried to rush to get three on the other side of the school gate, Annette was hit by a truck while crossing the road. He died instantly.
Throughout the night, her daughter repeatedly tried to call her mother, but she got no answer.
The sad news of his death has left his family, students, and community in mourning.
Annette's life is a testament to the power of perseverance, but her sudden death teaches us about the fragility of life.
Her legacy as a loving mother, courageous woman, and inspirational teacher will live on in the memories of those who knew her.
Funeral arrangements are underway, and his family is asking for help during this difficult time.
