Addressing believers at the PCEA Meru Church on Sunday, January 26, Gachagua claimed that there is a detailed plan by President William Ruto's administration to remove Koome from office.

According to Gachagua, the recent move to remove Koome's bodyguards was to intimidate him and force him to resign.

The former Vice President claimed that the administration of Kenya First you aim to dissolve the Supreme Court before the 2027 General Election.

The former Member of Parliament for Mathira claimed that the budget has already been allocated through the National Intelligence Service (NIS) for the programme.

“We have seen a plan to remove the Chief Justice Martha Koome in the office. There is a bigger plan to dismantle the Supreme Court before the 2027 elections. The budget has already been allocated through the National Intelligence Service (NIS), and all the petitions you see against Martha Koome and Supreme Court judges are government tricks,” Gachagua explained.

Gachagua claimed that the recent applications filed in the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) against seven Supreme Court judges are part of the government's plan to dissolve the Supreme Court.

“All those petitions you see in the Supreme Court are government plans because they would like to appoint a Supreme Court panel that agrees with the wishes of those in power,” he said.

The former Deputy President asked the Chief Justice who was faced with these challenges not to lose heart, saying that he is doing a good job despite criticism from some Kenyans.

“I want to tell my sister, Chief Justice Martha Koome, don't be intimidated. Stand strong. You are doing a good job. Continue to make sure that this is a country governed by the rule of law and follow the constitution,” said Gachagua.

Why Nelson Havi wants to remove Supreme Court justices

As previously reported, the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) acknowledged receiving a petition to remove Chief Justice Martha Koome and other Supreme Court judges.

The petition was presented to the commission on January 13 by the former president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), Nelson Havi.

He asked for the removal of all Supreme Court judges on suspicion of misconduct and abuse of office.

Apart from Koome, judges Smokin Wanjala, Njoki Ndungu, Isaac Lenaola, William Ouko, Philomena Mwilu, and Mohamed Ibrahim are at risk of removal.

The JSC also confirmed receipt of Havi's request to remove High Court judges Alfred Mabeya and Lucas Naikuni for alleged misconduct and misconduct.
