How Karua, Gachagua contested politically

At that time, Karua was running for the second presidential seat after the ODM candidate Raila Odinga And Great behind William Ruto.

He continued to mock Karua's political power, using the few votes he elected to Raila as a criterion.

For his part, Karua opposed Gachagua's remarks by accusing him of being part of the exploitation regime that supports evil and corruption.

He also accused the former deputy president of dictatorship, saying he did not deserve the position he had.

But things seem to change since the removal of Gachagua in October 2024.

Once he became a tough politician, he seems humble, in line with his former political enemy.

In his recent remarks, Gachagua welcomed all politicians who were ready to join him and form a team to oppose the President Ruto 2027.

For his part, Karua also seems to slow down his position against Gachagua, saying he will not care to work with him.

“I haven't talked to him, and he hasn't sought me, but I can't stop talking to anyone. He is not my enemy. Kenya has one enemy, William Ruto and his rule. The fact that I have not spoken. To him he does not make him my enemy,” Karua said in a television interview in December 2024.

Will Mount Kenya help Ruto?

Recently, Gachagua advised Ruto not to count Mount Kenya among his voting strongholds.

The Kenyan Mountains have played a major role in Ruto's victory in the 2022 vote, promoting the presidency against Raila, who was supported by the government.

Of the 7.1 million votes in which Ruto was declared the winner, Mount Kenya contributed 3.5 million.

Ruto voted while Gachagua was his running mate; The last one has been seeing himself as a criterion for victory in Ruto's campaigns.

Two years of their collective leadership, differences began between the two, which could not be resolved and led to the removal of power.
