Did Martha Karua withdraw from the Azimio coalition?

The meeting between Karua and Gachagua comes at a time when the two seem to have separated from their old political positions.

In a notice in the Government Gazette of January 23, the Registrar of Political Parties announced that Gachagua was no longer the deputy leader of President Ruto's party led by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) after he was removed from office.

On Thursday, July 25, Karua announced that he had split from the United Resolution Alliance.

In a short notice to the General Secretary of the Declaration of Unity Junet Mohamed, the party Narc Kenya's Karua cited “ongoing political developments” as the reason for its immediate withdrawal from the Declaration's membership.

The party, along with others, started the coalition before the 2022 elections, where Karua ran for the seat of deputy president as a co-candidate of Raila Odinga.
