How Melvine Nanjala met her boyfriend

To find out if he was faithful, the young woman, a mother of three, asked him to visit her and meet her pastor to tell him her desire to get married.

“I had not yet met him, so I spoke to my pastor who agreed to meet him. He came, we went to church together and later told my pastor that he wants to marry me and raise my two children,” he explained.

Two weeks later, Moses returned, bought drinks for the whole church, and gave the pastor and his wife KSh 2000, which he borrowed from Nanjala.

The mother of three explained that Moses' actions made everyone love him and envy him for getting rich.

“When he came back, he sent me pictures of the big house he was building for us. I was happy that I was marrying a rich man from the army. He began to rush our wedding, stating that he didn't mind a small ceremony as long as we moved in together,” he said.

Why did Melvine take a loan for her boyfriend?

The mother of three recounted that they dated for seven months, and Moses could visit her in Nairobi, where she was struggling, waiting for their wedding.

A few weeks before their wedding day, the groom-to-be asked Nanjala for a loan of KSh 10,000 to handle the loan that would be used to pay for the wedding expenses.

“He told me that he is applying for a loan to cover the wedding expenses and that it will take 24 hours to be released. He told me that he needed KSh 10,000 to apply for a loan and asked me to borrow where he would pay it back,” he noted.

Having trusted the man and was happy to be married, she borrowed the amount from her friend who worked in an Mpesa shop and promised to return the money to her within 24 hours as promised by her fiance'.

A day later, the man discovered that the loan application was unsuccessful and that an additional KSh 8,000 was needed to process it.

“I borrowed money again from someone else and sent it to him but he called me two days later saying the loan process was unsuccessful,” he said.
