Lawrence Luvanda returns to training after long lay off to give brewers title hopes a lift

Lawrence Luvanda explains how it was tough watching the team from the sidelines and what to expect following his return.

Tusker FC winger Lawrence Luvanda returned to training this week in what is a welcome relief to coach Charles Okere’s title charges.

The former Vihiga United wing wizard has been on the treatment table for  a while with a hamstring injury but his return coincides with the brewers title chase. Luvanda is relieved to be back and is eager to help the team achieve their season objectives.

Mike Kibwage explains what Tusker need to do to avoid missing out on the FKFPL title and previous sour experience.

“It’s been a tough journey, but it feels great to be back after the injury. The team and my family have supported me immensely, and they’ve played a big role in my recovery. Now, my focus is on helping the team,” Luvanda told Citizen Digital.

Luvanda termed his injury unfortunate because it came at the wrong time after he had hit imperious form.  “I had worked so hard during pre-season and had hit top form, but unfortunately, the injury came. I’ve worked just as hard to regain my form and aim to be consistent, score goals, and assist my teammates,” he added.

Tusker, the FKFPL 13-time champions, face a herculean task against Ulinzi Stars at the Ulinzi Complex on Saturday. With the fixtures coming thick and fast, Tusker’s title ambitions faces the biggest test in February with tough fixtures against top half of the table opposition lined up.

Tusker will face league leaders Kenya Police FC, defending champions Gor Mahia, Shabana FC and Coastal side Bandari. Luvanda will hope to fit in seamlessly and fill the void left by those still sidelined.

Assistant captain Mike Kibwage and forward Deogracious Ojok  are sidelined with injuries and will spend some time on the treatment table.
