- Sarah Waimu has been sent back to police court in connection with the murder of her husband, Tob Cohen
- The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) announced the receipt of sufficient evidence that involved the Kenyan woman in the murder of the Dutch billionaire
- Sarah is now waiting to be brought to court in Nairobi with ODPP preferring the murder charges against him after the completion of the investigation by government investigators
Nairobi – The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has favored the murder charges against Sarah Waimu Cohen.
Why was Sarah Cohen arrested
The ODPP said it had received a new circle of evidence that involved Sarah with the murder of her husband, Tob Cohen.
This comes after the completion of the Criminal Investigation Department (DCI).
The ODPP said that due to the new evidence, it was convinced that the Kenyan woman was actively involved in the murder of her husband.
“Most evidence shows that she killed her husband, namely, Tob Chichou Cohen on the night of the 19th and 20th of July 2019 in the Lower Kabete area, Nairobi County … After a thorough and detailed inspection about the new material, the DPP was satisfied that the Inside was involved .“ODPP said.
Despite the conclusion of the investigation, the ODPP said it had successfully applied for a moratorium on the Cohen murder investigation.
The new ODPP action comes two years after the agency released Sarah's murder charges.
In November 2022, Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji withdrew a murder case against Sarah and his fellow defendants.
At the time, the ODPP said that the murder case would not continue but was registered as an investigation.
Why did Sarah Cohen accuse DCI
Previously, Sarah, who was always considered the main suspect in Cohen's murder, criticized DCI by designing evidence in the case.
She claimed she had no chance to mourn her late husband because he was pushed on different sides with the investigation into the murder.
The widow pointed out that the people whose family believed to help in the case were lying to affect the matter in a way that would benefit them rather than seek justice.
Where was Tob Cohen's body found?
Cohen, a renowned golf coordinator and former Chief Executive Officer of Philips Electronics East Africa, his body was dug into an underground reserve at his home in Nairobi by investigators who had been following him since he was reportedly disappearing in July 2029.
The body was discovered two months after the rich man disappeared.
Chiefs of the criminal unit confirmed that the water reservoir was completely closed to concrete and covered with wooden cuttings in the bushes.
The body was found with many layers of clothing, with all the signs that the deceased was previously tortured.
Cohen's family held allegations that Sarah was responsible for the murder of their relatives.
In their memorial greetings published in daily newspapers, the family did not recognize Sarah as his wife.
The deceased was buried in a Jewish cemetery in Nairobi, where his widow was in the habit of visiting and flowering to pay homage.
