Inside the war of words between Ruto and Gachagua
On Thursday, January 23, Gachagua responded to Ruto a day after the President accused him of corruption, lack of leadership and ethnic patriotism.
Speaking in Luanda, Vihiga County, on Wednesday, January 22, Ruto accused Gachagua of promoting divisive politics that could divide Kenyans.
Ruto revealed that Gachagua was removed from power due to alleged failure to lead, lack of leadership skills and corruption.
The President warned his former deputy that his political statements would not be accepted and that he would perish in his efforts to divide the country on regional and ethnic lines.
In his response the next day, Gachagua said Ruto is not a saint and that he is using reverse psychology to avoid the responsibility that Kenyans want from him.
Talking to his followers through TikTokthe former deputy president claimed that his former boss is running a big corruption in the government, showing that it is hypocritical for him to call other leaders corrupt.
“When you talk about corruption, the people of this country know who is corrupt. When you talk about failure, people know who has failed. That is the situation in the country. If you ask someone what has happened in this country for two years, it is only failure. If you talk about corrupt people and those who have destroyed, look in the mirror and see for yourself because Kenyans know better. People are very smart,” Gachagua replied.
At the same time, Gachagua told Ruto that Mount Kenya will not return to his side.
He said no number of government appointments for the people of Mount Kenya will change the political situation.
According to Gachagua, Ruto tricked Mount Kenya into approving his removal from power in October last year and that the region is ready to create new political friendships apart from the President.
“No amount of appointing anyone from this region will change anything. People have abandoned Ruto because he betrayed and lied to this region. And his solution, it's just a matter of situation. And I must say the truth at the right time… The mountain is gone and you are gone forever because you hate betrayal and abomination. Those are the two things that mountain people hate.” he said.
