Baringo: Dominic Orina, a passionate teacher who teaches students about farming and good nutrition, has been nominated for the World's Best Teacher Award, which attracts a prize of KSh 129,000 million.
Where is Kugerwet Primary School?
Orina, who teaches at Kugerwet Primary School in the County Bomettold TUKO.co.ke that they come from a place where many residents grow tea instead of vegetables.
He decided to teach them to farm for their food and support their families.
In an age where students prefer electronic devices, teacher Orina was also trying to change that attitude.
After a while, the project began to bear fruit, and the community around the school began to enjoy good food.
Since the area is for tea cultivation, the benefit of the project was seen.
In addition to eating produce at school and taking it home, students also used the money they earned to buy school uniforms for needy children.
How did Orina help students start saving?
When students started earning money from their crops, there was also a need to start saving their money.
Beloved teacher Dominic Orina and his hardworking students had a proud moment when they entered the Co-operative Bank to open accounts to save their money.

βThis would not be possible without the amazing help from my wonderful people like you. Continue to pray for me so that I bring the award home at the end of the competition,” said Orina.
