President William Ruto appointed George Wanga as the non-executive chairman of the Energy and Oil Regulatory Authority (EPRA).

The appointment was made in a gazette notice published on January 17.

George will hold the post for three years, starting from the day it is gazetted.

Some supporters of the president were also awarded positions in the same notice.

What job did Ruto give Aisha Jumwa?

Ruto appointed the former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa to be the non-executive chairman of the Kenya Roads Board for three years, commencing January 17, 2025.

The President revoked the appointment of Ahmed Kolosh Mohamed, who previously held the post.

Kolosh was reassigned to the Maritime Transport Authority, where he will serve a three-year term as non-executive chairman of the agency's board of directors.

Former Nairobi women's representative Millicent Omanga was appointed to Kenya Shipyards Limited as a member of the board of directors for three years.

Omanga's appointment was approved by Defense Minister Soipan Tuya.

Why did the ODM official reject Ruto's job?

At the same time, the former MP for Kitutu Masaba, Timothy Bosire refused the job given to him by Ruto.

The President, through a previous gazette notice, had announced that Bosire would not be the executive chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

Bosire, who is currently ODM's national treasurer, was supposed to hold the post for three years.

However, the politician rejected the offer, saying that he had consulted with his family and friends.

He also mentioned not being consulted by Ruto before making the appointment.

Who were appointed but rejected Ruto's work?

Bosire adds to the list of people who rejected Ruto's nomination for various reasons.

Former ICT Cabinet Secretary Margaret Ndung'u recently declined the position of president.

On January 10, 2025, Ndung'u failed to appear before the National Assembly's Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations, where his suitability to be Kenya's High Commissioner to Ghana was to be investigated.

He wrote a letter to the clerk of Parliament explaining his inability to come forward to be examined and thus take that responsibility.

The former minister cited personal reasons and family commitments as the reason for turning down the job.

In October last year, Omanga rejected Ruto's nomination to serve on the board of the Nairobi Rivers Commission.

Using the X social network, Omanga thanked the president for considering him for the important role but expressed his displeasure.

The politician revealed that he will not take the position for personal reasons.

At the same time, former Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka rejected his nomination to be the chairman of the National Animal Genetic Resources Center (KAGRC).

He cited the political situation at the time, which, according to him, threatened the implementation of the government's economic transformation agenda.
